Q: What is the range for SAM?

A: We designed SAM to have a range of approximately 150 ft in most installations. In practice, your range will depend on the following factors: mailbox material type (plastic is better for range), number and type of obstacles between transmitter and receiver (e.g. trees between transmitter and receiver will reduce your range), the position of the receiver inside your house (closest to outside wall is best), etc. Please follow installations instructions and set-up video carefully in order to maximize the reception range. 

Q: Do I need to pay any subscription fee to use SAM alert on my smartphone?

A: Until further notice, the app and the service is free. Keep in mind that you may have to periodically update your SAM app as the iOS and Android systems are upgraded.

Q: Does SAM work with all mailboxes?

A: SAM has been designed to be compatible with all US Postal Service approved curbside mailboxes. It works best with plastic mailboxes as they do not shield the transmitter signal. However, metal mailboxes work OK as well provided that you take care to route the pigtail antenna of the transmitter so it protrudes outside the mailbox for maximum range.

Q: What other applications can SAM be used for?

A: SAM has been designed primarily as a wireless mailbox alert system, but it can be used for other purposes where a motion detection activity reporting is desired. SAM transmitter is a very sensitive motion sensor so mount it on anything that moves, and SAM will alert you about it.


Q: How long does the transmitter battery last?

A: SAM uses a Li-Ion battery that is designed for long-life operation. SAM only transmits information when it is "woken up" by the motion activity so the battery usage is minimal. We estimate that with normal use, SAM's battery should last more than one year.

Q: What is the Warranty for SAM?

A: Your SAM – Smart Alert for Mailproduct (“Product”) is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 180 days from the date of original retail purchase (“Warranty Period”) when used in accordance with SAM’s user manual. If a defect arises during the Warranty Period, we, at our discretion will (1) repair the Product at no charge using new parts or parts that are equivalent to new in performance and reliability, (2) exchange the Product with a product with equivalent functionality formed from new and/or previously used parts that are equivalent to new in performance and reliability or with your consent, a product that is at least functionally equivalent to the product it replaces, or (3) refund the original purchase price. This warranty excludes normal depletion of consumable parts such as batteries unless failure has occurred due to a defect in materials or workmanship and, damage resulting from abuse, accident, modifications, unauthorized repairs or other causes that are not defects in materials and workmanship.

We do not warrant, represent or undertake that it will be able to repair or replace any Product under this warranty without risk to and / or loss of information and / or data stored on the Product.  In no event shall we will be liable for (a) loss or damage, which as of the product’s purchase cannot be regarded as being caused by our breach of these warranty terms; or (b) losses caused by the user’s fault, loss of data or loss of profits or benefits. 

Any limitations of liability in this warranty document shall not apply to (i) death or personal injury pursuant to any mandatory law on product liability; (ii) fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; (iii) intentional misconduct or gross negligence; (iv) or a culpable breach of major contractual obligations.  A damages claim based on a breach of major contractual obligations or gross negligence will be limited to foreseeable damage typical for the sale contract concerned.
